“I am Kiera “Irish Assassin” McDevitt, and I have been training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 2017. I am an honor student who received the Founders Award when graduating 8th grade at Tacony Academy Charter School. Training BJJ started when my younger brother was having issues with bullies at school.  For me Jiu-Jitsu is an amazing sport that helps build self-confidence. I have learned that losing in Jiu-Jitsu is not a failure, but a way to learn what I need to concentrate on to be one of the best. I suffer from anxiety and have also been diagnosed with scoliosis, which can make it very stressful to compete sometimes. One major thing that I have learned by competing in BJJ is that no matter how nervous or anxious I am – once I step onto that mat – I can do anything. Although BJJ is my main focus when training, I have trained in Muay-Thai, Wrestling, and Boxing. Wendy Jarva owner of SicChic was the first sponsor to believe in me and has always supported me through my journey and I am grateful to have been given the chance to represent Team Sicchic! I want all girls and women to know that we can be the best and can do anything we put our minds too, NEVER LET ANYONE TELL YOU DIFFERENT!”
